Today...

...I've been contemplating the meaning of shadow. An absence of light, a form whose depth and outlines and intensity are shaped by the very objects which obscure it from the light...

shadows...

sometimes offer shade and shelter.

sometimes promote illusions.

shadows can offer illumination as well as obscure a definitive view.

they can be mysterious, gloomy, and carry a sense of foreboding of something yet to come.

the old testament says our days on earth are but a shadow...

david cries out to be hid under the shadow of His wings.

we're told that when we walk through the shadow of death we are not to fear...

that we are covered by the shadow of His hand.

but when i hear the word, witness a shadow, or experience one forming i give thanks for the verse in James...

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
